Day # 1 – June 21, 2017
Its spring and we invite you to join us as we board our deluxe Tri-State Travel motorcoach to begin our journey to Washington, DC. Our first overnight destination in Independence, Ohio, where dinner is included. (D)
Day # 2 – June 22, 2017
After an included breakfast our journey continues. We arrive in Washington, DC mid-afternoon and our first scheduled visit is the National Portrait Gallery. Housed in the magnificent “Old Patent Office Building,” this museum features a unique collection of portraits of famous Americans from the worlds of politics, sports, literature and stage and screen. Memorial Touring will include the National World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and Reflecting Pool, and the Korean War Memorial. Dinner is included this evening prior to checking into our hotel. (B,D)
Day # 3 – June 23, 2017
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning. Our day begins with a visit at the New White House Visitors Center. This center offers visitors a window into the president’s iconic home. Here you can explore an interactive touchscreen tour of the White House, view over 90 artifacts from the White House collection. Afterwards, it is time to set sail on the Odyssey for a cruise along the historic Potomac River as you enjoy a delicious meal prepared especially for you. Upon completion of our cruise we will enjoy a walk and photo opportunity among the Japanese cherry trees along the Tidal Basin. This afternoon, we visit the NEW Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial and Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. Walk through The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to see amazing views from the terrace and the famous bronze bust of John F Kennedy in the grand foyer. Dinner is included this evening. Our day concludes with an Illuminated Monument Driving Tour. (B,D)
Day #4 – June 24, 2017
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning. Arrive at the NEW Capitol Visitor Center on Capitol Hill, the seat of American government. The entire facility is located underground on the east side of the Capitol so as not to detract from the appearance of the Capitol. The United States Capitol (pending availability) is next on our itinerary. The most recognized symbol of democratic government in the world, the U.S. Capitol has housed Congress since 1800 and is one of the most imposing public buildings in the world. Visit the United States Library of Congress, the largest national library in the world with more than 100 million items in three buildings. Our afternoon will be spent visiting your choice of the Smithsonian Institution’s museums on the National Mall. Dinner this evening included. (B,L,D)
Day #5 – June 25, 2017
Breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. We will meet our guide at the Visitor’s Center of Arlington National Cemetery. The Cemetery is the former plantation and home of Civil War General Robert E. Lee. The Tomb of the Unknown speaks of a nation’s debt to the many whose ultimate sacrifice helped make a nation free. Our next stop is the Air Force Memorial. The redesigned Memorial is both BOLD and graceful and truly representational of the Air Force. Visit the NEW September 11, 2001 Memorial at the Pentagon. One hundred eighty-four lives were lost in a single moment at the Pentagon. Visit Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington. America’s most visited historic house, Mount Vernon sits on a grassy, shaded slope overlooking the Potomac River. Meet our Old Town guide for a walking tour of historic Old Town Alexandria. Alexandria was a once thriving seaport for the young American nation. Today it is a charming historic city with a small-town feel. Dinner is included this evening. (B,D)
Day #6 – June 26, 2017
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning prior to check-out. Our last stop before departing the Washington, DC area is the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico. Experience what it means to be a Marine! We continue on to our last overnight in Ohio. This evening we have scheduled a farewell dinner for your dining pleasure. (B,D)
Day # 7 – June 27, 2017
Your Tri-State Travel motorcoach is waiting to start our journey home today, but first you will want to enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Sit back, relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery as we are scheduled to arrive home late this afternoon from our springtime journey to our Nation’s Capital. We hope you enjoyed this memorable journey.
