DAY 1 – Fly to Denver
Fly on your own into Denver for your overnight accommodations and orientation. Arrive by 4:00 p.m.
DAY 2 – Cripple Creek Touring
You will depart Denver and travel to Cripple Creek, Colorado. We begin at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry in Colorado Springs. After lunch we will visit the Heritage Center in Cripple Creek to get an overview of the “World’s Greatest Gold Camp”.

DAY 3 – Tour Victor and Cripple Creek Victor Mine
Begin with a walking tour of Victor, a National Historic District, where you see and feel the Gold Rush Days of a century ago. Then an in-depth tour of the huge open pit of the active Cripple Creek Victor Gold Mine, which operates 24 hours a day 365 days annually producing over 250,000 troy ounces of gold. We will get up-close and personal with some of the large equipment working in the mine. Another part of the gold story can be found in the last of the famous parlor houses (brothels) when you visit the Old Homestead Museum. A fine finish to the day is a stop at the Cripple Creek District Museum.

DAY 4 – Travel to Ouray
We’ll stop at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, a thousand feet deep and 1,500 feet across, carved by the Gunnison River. We can unpack and settle in as we visit the heart of the San Juan Mountains. Ouray is known as the “Switzerland of America”, our home for three nights.

DAY 5 – Four-Wheel Drive Tour
All day Four-wheel drive tour through the breathtaking San Juan Mountains. We will explore the gold mines, gold camps and ghost towns as we travel some of the old paths the miners took over 100 years ago. Enjoy the unforgettable scenery of the San Juan Mountains.

DAY 6 – Tour Cripple Creek
History comes alive in Silverton. Begin at the Old Hundred Mine as you ride the electric mine trammer a third of a mile into Galena Mountain. See demonstrations of different mining techniques from the late 1800s to the 1960s. Then see how the gold was processed at the historic Mayflower Mill that operated until the 1930s. This National Historical Landmark has all of the old equipment and could still operate today. Even the tram with its buckets are still in place. Discover notorious Blair Street, the Red Light District of Silverton, an old mining town that would not die.

DAY 7 – Travel to Denver
Enjoy the wonderous beauty of the Rocky Mountains as we make our way back to the “Mile High City” of Denver.We will follow the Colorado River through Glenwood Canyon, travel through Vail Valley and see the world famous ski area and drive under the Continental Divide as we go through the Eisenhower Tunnel.
